From full sun to blue hour
If you
~ Want to master maternity and motherhood photography in natural light
~ Seek to refine your ability to create intimacy and emotion in your work
~ Are eager to elevate your portfolio to the next level
Then this is for you
In this workshop we will learn how to handle natural light, play with shadows, capture emotion, and create art. We will explore the art of creating under the full sun, the golden glows of sunset, and the ethereal blues of twilight.

What to expect at my workshop
This workshop is a hands on, immersive experience where you will see how I pose and communicate with our model to create a fun and safe space for her confidence to shine. I will talk you through and show you how I work with lighting and what props and tricks I use around the harshest light until the dimness of blue hour.
The structure of the session
2:30pm - We will meet at Maslins Clothing Optional Beach in the car park, where you will receive your posing guide made by me, and we will talk all about photography and have a little Q&A before we meet with our first model.
3pm - 4:50pm (Full sun) we will be photographing our maternity model, she will be using pieces and props from my client wardrobe plus nude. Here, we will work around the sun before golden hour. (Please note, full sun can not be guaranteed, if it is overcast we will still have the workshop but moved forward in the day)
5pm - 6pm (Golden hour to blue hour) we will be photographing our motherhood model, who will be wearing a beautiful lace gown that I bought specially for this workshop. She will have her husband, and four year old who will occasionally be in some shots, as well as herself and her three month old who will be the main focus of the workshop. This family is especially special, as I have captured their newborn photos with their first and their maternity photos with their second, and now they will be modelling for my workshop ~ truly feeling special here.
Props and special pieces from my client wardrobe
If you know me, you would know that I am OBSESSED with the beach, shells, and collecting the most unique and stunning pieces for my client wardrobe. For the workshop, I will put together my most requested pieces from my client wardrobe and match my pieces to what I believe will flatter our model the best. I will bring my shells and fabrics as props, and show you how something so simple can create images so beautiful.
From the moment you book to leading up to the workshop
You will receive a detailed questionnaire upon booking, this questionnaire will help me get to know you, why you have booked with me and what questions you have, which will assist me in giving you the most tailored experience I can for you to get the most out of my workshop.
Leading up to the session, I will keep in contact with everyone via a group chat on Instagram, where I will also send through lens filter recommendations to get the best photos for the workshop.

FAQ
Is this for beginners or established photographers?
Both beginners and established photographers can take away from this workshop! Upon booking, you will receive a detailed questionnaire, which will help me make sure you get the most out of this workshop.
What kind of guidance will we recieve during the session?
You will observe me talking to and posing our model, I will observe the light and how it is hitting her, and pose her as how I see is best (I will try to be loud enough for you to hear me, but you must get in close to be able to hear me). Once I have posed her I will re explain what I have done (going through prompts and poses) and help direct you to the best angles and compositions. I will direct the group to move back for faraway shots and in for close ups, to ensure we all get a good variety in our shots. You are also welcome to ask me any questions you have during the session, and I will show/ explain my answers.
What do we do if the weather turns out bad?
There is of course a chance that it will be overcast all day, in that case we will still do the workshop and photograph in the overcast.
If it turns out to be raining, we will still continue but will only do maternity. To still give variety, I will have a back up maternity model to take the motherhood sessions place.
What do I need to bring?
Wear sunscreen, shorts, thongs (We will get wet!).
Bring
- Camera + lens of choice (I recommend using a zoom lens if you can, but it is not a must)
- Towel & change of clothes
- Water & snack
I will also send through a list of recommended lens filters that will help you get the best out of your photos.
Can I use the images I take for my portfolio?
Yes of course!! This is what the workshop is all about, to help you get the best photos for your portfolio and to take away new tips and tricks!
I do love however, being tagged in the first post or a review so I can share the love and continue hosting amazing workshops in the future!
